AN-Routine de soins peau mixte
Skin care routine for combination skin
Combination skin is oily in some places and dry in others. You don’t necessarily want to use two different routines, but rather find one in the middle.
Day
Cleanser | Start with a cleansing gel/soap that unclogs pores and removes oil. If your skin starts to get too dry, you can switch to a cleansing lotion or a mild soap. |
Toner | Use a balancing toner. |
Serum | Use an AHA/BHA serum (morning). AHAs and BHAs minimize the appearance of pores and brighten dull skin. |
Moisturising cream | Combination skin does not need an oil-free moisturizer, but it does need a light moisturizer. |
Sunscreen | As with oily skin, zinc oxide sunscreens are ideal for combination skin because of their matte finish. A minimum SPF of 30 is required. Look for tinted sunscreens to avoid white marks on the skin. |
Night
Oil-based cleanser | It is important to cleanse the face in two stages to eliminate impurities of two different natures: greasy impurities (make-up, sebum, pollution etc) and hydrophilic impurities (perspiration, dust etc). This is to avoid irritating the skin. The hydrolipidic film is thus preserved. Just be aware that if you choose a cleansing oil, choose one that is cold pressed and unrefined. Apply the cleansing oil to the face and massage it in with circular movements, this will activate the blood circulation and at the same time remove traces of make-up and sebum. Then rinse with lukewarm (not hot) water. |
Water-based cleanser | Use a mild cleanser for hydrophilic impurities (perspiration, dust, etc.) and rinse with warm water. |
Toner | Use a toning lotion that balances your skin’s pH. Look for active ingredients such as niacinamide. |
Serum | A retinol serum is a friend to just about every skin type, and combination skin is no exception. |
Moisturising cream | Look for a moisturiser, especially after using a retinol serum. |
Oil | Facial oils can do wonders for combination skin, but save them for the night. |
Advice | Since combination skin tends to become oily around the T-zone, focus only on this area when using a clay mask. |
