Chemical Peels & Microneedling
Instructions pre-sessions
- Discontinue the use of retinoids and other chemical exfoliants for at least 72 hours.
- Sun exposure is forbidden in the 72 hours preceding your session. Protect the area to be treated with a high protection sunscreen.
- You should have stopped using antibiotics two weeks before your session.
- Avoid microdermabrasion, other chemical peeling services 2 weeks before your session
- Avoid waxing until 72 hours before the session.
- If you are taking acne medication, it should be stopped at least one week before the session (except antibiotics).
- Avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks before the session and wear a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
- Moisturise from the inside (drink enough) and from the outside (apply a moisturiser) every day
Instructions post-sessions
- Depending on the sensitivity of your skin, you may feel tingling, heat, itching, dryness, redness or tightness after a chemical peel or a microneedling session. These effects will disappear quickly, and in case of peeling the effects will disappear within a week.
- Avoid direct exposure to the sun.
- Wash your face with cold water gently with your hands only for 72 hours after the peel.
- Moisturize! Since peels and microneedlings can temporarily compromise your skin’s protective barrier, it’s important to reinforce that barrier with a medium to thick moisturizer. Also, drink more water to avoid dehydration, which can make your skin tight.
- Apply a sunscreen with SPF30 or higher every day.
- Avoid intense workouts, dry saunas and steam rooms.
- Do not over exfoliate. Manual exfoliation is not recommended for at least 3 weeks after the session.
- Do not apply any acid or retinol-based products for at least 14 days after the peel or microneedling.
- Don’t pick, pull on your skin as it starts to peel and avoid encouraging it to flake (peel off) before it is ready as it can cause hyperpigmentation and scarring.
