Laser hair removal for men

For some men, body hair, while perfectly normal, is a pain point. But thanks to the latest technology, laser hair removal for men can make it easy to remove hair, from a small area to a full back, and without the usual razor side effects and ingrown hairs. Best of all, it’s permanent, especially if followed by high frequency hair removal.

Laser hair removal is a procedure in which a laser beam is directed at the skin to remove hair and prevent it from growing back.

The fact that the laser acts on the melanin in the follicle means that laser hair removal is more effective on people whose hair is darker in pigment than their skin colour.

Because men tend to have thicker hair, laser hair removal can be a saving grace because of its ability to prevent hair growth without causing razor burn, ingrown hairs or the chronic irritation associated with more common hair removal methods such as shaving or waxing. Aulaser hair removal also reduces maintenance and leaves an overall more natural look; a definite advantage for certain hard-to-reach areas such as the back, ears or genitals.

Back and shoulders: Due to their hard-to-reach nature, laser hair removal can be an optimal way to remove hair in these areas with minimal maintenance.

Beard line and neck: If you are prone to razor burn and are constantly ingrown in the sensitive and volatile neck area, laser hair removal can help maintain a clean beard edge without the need for a razor.

Buttocks: More and more men are turning to permanent laser hair removal for their buttocks.

Before the start of the treatment course, we always carry out a patch test during the consultation in order to confirm the parameters adapted to your skin type and to avoid any adverse reaction.

The procedure itself is fairly simple and straightforward, ranging from a few minutes for a small area, such as the upper lip, to an hour or more for larger areas such as the legs or back. Your beautician will apply a contact gel to your skin to make it easier for the handpiece to glide over the area to be treated. The heat will gradually increase until it reaches 50°C in the follicle to destroy it while keeping the skin surface at a temperature of 25°C thanks to the cooling system built into the laser handpiece.

After your procedure, the skin will, depending on the person, be red and swollen, but this usually subsides after a few hours.

We recommend keeping your skincare routine gentle and simple: apply ice to reduce pain and swelling if necessary, clean with a mild cleanser and then apply a moisturiser. Also avoid the sun and always apply plenty of sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to avoid hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation.

Avoid exercising after your laser session, as the excess heat generated can further irritate your skin. For more information go to our before and after care tips section.

The side effects of laser hair removal are minimal. Some less common side effects include blistering and hypo- and hyper-pigmentation of the skin, so it is essential to follow your esthetician’s recommendations and report any skin reactions.
